Transforming Your Fiction Through Joy
Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Balsillie School of International Affairs
Joy, growth, and abundance are not usually associated with art-making. More often we use debilitating and limiting concepts such as struggle, work and discipline. In this workshop we will explore how unlocking our creativity by rooting in purpose and play can result in greater quality and quantity of fiction writing and, more importantly, a deeper relationship with ourselves and the reasons why we write.
Moving Energies in Poems and Lyrics
Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Balsillie School of International Affairs
Based in Mi’kmaw knowledge systems, this poetry workshop will teach attendees how to trust artistic energy and how to follow the writing where it takes you.
Writing In Times of Crisis
Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Balsillie School of International Affairs
What does it mean to be a writer in times of political and moral crisis? In the bleakest of times, writers help us make sense of our relationship to what’s happening in the world. Beyond the changing headlines or political discourse, the writer’s reflections get us to a deeper insight of human experience. Join Saeed Teebi, Pacinthe Mattar and Gary Barwin for a discussion on their different experiences of finding (and losing) language in the face of heartbreak and human devastation. Moderated by Niomi Cherney.
